After the first time visiting Stonegit, Clover had decided that she would visit him every day. She didn’t know if it made a difference, but she felt like it would. This time, she decided to bring a book with her.
"Hi Stonegit. I’m going to read to you today." She sat down next to her friend, opened the book, and began. She had chosen a fairy tale, something simple. She didn’t want to tell him a complex story without being sure he’d be able to appreciate it.
While reading, she would occasionally glance at his face, hoping for any sign of change. Even though she knew that there would be none, it still saddened her every time, and after a short while, she couldn’t continue reading. So she closed the book and reached out to grab Stonegit’s hand. She held it between hers, as if she could will him awake.
"Please wake up. I need you. You’re my best friend, Stonegit." She was whispering, although she didn’t know why. She dropped his hand after a moment, and hugged him tightly. "I miss you."
